Please briefly describe the event: The San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, is partnering with the Northern California Chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) to raise funds to assist in rebuilding the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law-enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Concerns of Police Survivors is a non-profit organization made up of family members and co-workers of fallen law enforcement personnel. C.O.P.S. mission is to assist in rebuilding the lives of surviving families and affected coworkers of law enforcement killed in the line of duty as determined by federal criteria. Furthermore, C.O.P.S. provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession. The Northern California Chapter of C.O.P.S. serves 38 counties from the northern border of California through Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Sonoma and Calaveras Counties.

All programs and events are provided free of charge to survivors. From the week long C.O.P.S. Kids Camp, to weekend retreats, to the Survivors Conference in Washington D. C. during National Police Week, all survivors are offered support, counseling, and the opportunity to share struggles and celebrate successes with fellow survivors.

To help fulfill this mission, the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department is holding a fundraising Picnic and Barbecue (Q for the Blue) on Saturday, May 18, 2019, in Rio Nido, California. This event will be family orientated and include swimming, pony rides, sack races and other activities. Lunch will include barbecued hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, salads and all you can drink ice tea and lemonade.
