We are Walking as group to support this Heart Walk in Club Gear, but please fill free to sign up to troop in costume if you wish as it has been OK’d by the Event Requestor.

Join walkers from across our community as they step out to have fun, get inspired and support a meaningful cause.

Event Schedule
11:30 Heart-Healthy Expo and Games Zone open
12:00 Opening Ceremonies
12:15 Your choice of yoga, 1-mile walk or zumba. Do one, two or all three activities as each is offered every 15-20 minutes.
1:30 Event concludes

Parking Information
Street parking is limited and there is not a garage near the festival area. We highly recommend either walking to the festival area, taking public transportation, or taking a taxi or ride-share service.

Public Transportation
The nearest BART station is 19th Street Oakland. From there, it is a 0.7 mile walk to the festival area, which takes approximately 15 minutes.

Walk Route
We invite you to walk to the event from your workplace. From the festival area, event participants will walk a 1-mile loop that begins and ends at Fairyland Field.

Water
There will be a Hydration Station in the festival area where walkers can refill their water bottles. While compostable cups will be available, it is highly recommended that all event attendees bring their own water bottle so we can keep waste to a minimum and so that you can keep yourself hydrated throughout the duration of the event.

Restrooms
Portable restrooms will be available at Fairyland Field.

First Aid
EMTs will be available in the First Aid Tent. Additionally, there will be an ambulance on-site in case of emergencies.

Rewards Center & Heart Walk Hero Gear
New this year! The more funds you raise, the more points you earn to redeem for Heart Walk Hero Gear. Once you reach a new fundraising milestone, additional points will automatically be added to your points balance. You can redeem points at any time up to the walk and points expire 6 weeks after the day of the Heart Walk. Point redemption starts after you’ve fundrased $100.

Donations
Our event permit from the City of Oakland precludes us from accepting cash, checks or credit card donations at the event. Donations can be mailed or hand-delivered during business hours to our office located at 426 17th Street, Suite 300, Oakland, CA 94612.

Heart & Stroke Heroes
Heart disease survivors will receive a red cap and stroke survivors will receive a white cap. Caps can be picked up from the Heart & Stroke Survivors booth. In addition, event attendees can honor their Heart Heroes, Stroke Heroes and Remembered Heroes at the Heroes Wall at the event.

Volunteering
Interested in volunteering at the Oakland Heart Walk? We need volunteers for three shifts:

8:30am – 12:30pm    Help set-up and manage the festival area
11:30am – 2:00pm     Staff a water stop (requires walking 1 mile)
11:00am – 3:00pm    Help with festival area tear down
