WHAT?
To aid our local areas’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 501st Legion’s Golden Gate Garrison is not taking part in any events until it is deemed safe to do so. But we’ve got a desire to help raise spirits and help our communities, and armor sitting around, so we’re going to follow the lead of our sister garrison in Singapore and plan virtual troops.

Participating in this troop will count as an official troop and count towards your census.
To get credit, you’ll need to suit up in your appropriate costume(s) and post a photo or video, rename photo/video with your name and ID, in this folder:

We’ll then collect them and post them on the public Facebook page.
You are also free to post them on your own social media, but one photo must go in the folder for our use and for the official record.

HOW? WHERE? WHO?
Suit up in your full, approved costume(s) at home.
Get creative with it, and take appropriate photo/video.

Let’s support our communities by showing our respect for anyone working to help us through this tough time, or by demonstrating appropriate safety measures, like hand-washing and social distancing.

TROOP TIPS
Do
• be creative and display your best efforts at showcasing the theme of the troop
• wear your full approved costume as you would in normal troops
• be safe when taking your photos/videos and avoid dangerous stunts
• promote/encourage people to donate to the World Health Organization

Don’t
• Depict waste of items like surgical masks, hand sanitizers, etc.
• Target/mock any groups of people, even if meant as a joke
• Take your buckets off or do anything else outside the CRL.
• Gather with fellow troopers to do a joint shoot (remember social distancing)
• Do this in public. Set a good example and maintain social distancing at home.

Remember, even at home, we are still the proud 501st Legion. We are still representing the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California, birthplace of Star Wars, home of Lucasfilm, and the golden gateway to the Empire itself.
