Hello Members and Leadership of the 501st,

I am writing to you to solicit your support at an event bringing interests of science to a community dedicated to service and charitable causes.

My name is Peter Mu and I am a board member of the Silicon Valley Capital Club. The Club is the premiere business networking and social club for the Silicon Valley professionals. Since I joined the club about two years ago we have sponsored fund raisers for various charities in our community, including the Happy Hallow Zoo, the Burn Foundation, the K9 Foundation, and many others.

What I have also discovered is that traditionally the Club has been focusing on wine and dine events and an intended focus on Science, Technology, and other thought – provoking subjects are missing. I want to bring balance to that.

On Oct 23rd, I am hosting an event featuring Dr. Seth Shostak, senior astronomer and founding member of the SETI Institute to give a talk about the search for ET.

The San Jose Astronomy Association will be bringing telescopes to set up on our terrace so members can look towards the heavens with their own eyes.

The USS Hornet Museum is exhibiting their involvement in the Apollo 13 mission and the recovery of the capsule.

The Space Station Museum is exhibiting a deconstructed telescope to showcase the inner workings and other space memorabilia.

The San Jose State University will have an exhibit on the spectral analysis of light, the language of astronomy and astro physics.

Members of the club will be exhibiting their astro-imaging work.

This is where you come in.

I thought It would be a fantastic idea to have Vader and some storm troopers to “invade” our event, right in the middle of Dr. Shostak’s talk, and ridicule   how primitive and futile our current technology is, given the obvious “evidence” that the galaxies are full of life.

Oh the irony will be so so funny.

Your efforts will bring science to the community who dedicates itself to the growth of San Jose and serving the many charities around it.

What say you?
